EPISODE 1
This episode asks us the question does our socioeconomic status predispose us to less than adequate health care? We see the dichotomy between those that are on the upper rungs of the societal ladder and those on the lower rungs. Those on the top are in positions of power that allow better access, resources and opportunity while those on the bottom are faced with life stressors and a sense of lack of control of work, family, children, environmental hazards and the fewest resources to help deal with all of those issues mentioned.
Q: This episode showed the widening gap between life expectancy and the stressors that result in higher rates of disease and early death. As we compare our children living in poverty with those of other countries we are remined how vastly different our priorities are on social spending. What do you feel needs to be done to get at some of the underlying issues resulting in our nation's poor health status of our minority populations and how can we work toward heatlh equity?
